13+ Mutations
Beyond Rainbow
900x+ Luck

Last updated: May 28, 2026

In Kick a Lucky Block, the Mutation is the core mechanic that transitions players from "Average" to "Multi-Trillionaire." Mutations don't just transform the visual appearance of your Brain Rot Units; more importantly, they grant independent Value Multipliers that stack on top of a unit's base production.

To unlock the rarest evolutions, make sure your Luck is maxed out and you have enough Kick Power to reach the high-value drops in the later zones.

Mechanics & Rules

When designing your base or planning long-term progression, you must understand these fundamental facts:

  • Non-Stackable: Each unit can only possess one mutation at the time of drop. Once a unit has a mutation, it cannot be modified or added to via post-processing.
  • Unit Type Compatibility: Mutation multipliers directly amplify the $/sec of standard units. For Percentage Units (e.g., Dragons), the mutation does not change the percentage bonus (e.g., 2% remains 2%), but it drastically increases the unit's base cash value.
  • Spawn on Impact: Mutations are generated the instant the Lucky Block shatters. You must successfully retrieve the unit and place it in your base for the multiplier to take effect.
  • Distance Correlation: While random, the further the block lands from the starting point (i.e., entering high-tier zones), the higher the raw probability of spawning high-tier mutations.
  • Multiplier Logic: The mutation multiplier acts directly on the unit's base $/sec (Cash per second).

Calculation Formula:

Total Income = Base Unit Production × Mutation Multiplier

Mutation Tier List

Approximate base chances (x/y) and multipliers for the mutations currently documented in-game. Luck, zones, and events can shift real outcomes.

MutationMultiplierChanceEffect
Gold1.5x1/10Increases your brainrot's earning rate and sale value by 1.5x.
Diamond2x1/25Increases your brainrot's earning rate and sale value by 2x.
Plasma4x1/33Increases your brainrot's earning rate and sale value by 4x.
Molten6x1/125Increases your brainrot's earning rate and sale value by 6x.
Radioactive8x1/333Increases your brainrot's earning rate and sale value by 8x.

Rainbow30x1/20000Increases your brainrot's earning rate and sale value by 30x.
Virus10xLegacyLegacy mutation from the old Virus Machine era. Update 3 replaced that system with the Weather Machine — existing Virus units may remain, but new Virus rolls are no longer the primary path.
Void10xIncreases your brainrot's earning rate and sale value by 10x.
AstralBeyond RainbowEternal ZonePermanent Index mutation from Update 4. Stronger than Rainbow with cosmic VFX. See the Update 4 Eternal guide for scaling examples.
PhantomBeyond RainbowPhantom Event (~3% block transform)Event-exclusive mutation from Update 4. Rolled during Phantom Weather / Phantom Event windows only.
VolcanicTBDVolcano Event (unlock first)Update 5 event mutation. Unlock for 20 Volcanic Orbs at the NPC behind the Volcano Shop, then roll during the 2-hour Volcano Event. Exact multiplier is not yet confirmed in-game.

For event and zone-specific mutations, see our Update 4 Eternal guide (Astral & Phantom) and Update 5 Volcano guide (Volcanic).

Maximizing Mutation Chances

Relying on "Blind Kicking" alone rarely yields mutations above Radioactive. High-level players combine the following systems to increase efficiency:

Luck Stacking

  • Multiplicative Scaling: Luck is not additive. The final calculation is:
Final Luck = (Base Luck + Gamepass) × Server Multiplier × Potion
  • Server Luck Boosts: Attempt pulls during 2x, 4x, or 8x Server Luck events for the best chance at Plasma tier and above.
  • Distance Buff: Entering the OG Area provides a built-in luck boost often exceeding 900x. This is the optimal time to use personal potions. If you need the full formula and event timing, use the Luck Guide.

Power & Precision

  • Perfect Kick: Precision timing increases distance and provides a slight "quality bias" at the moment of impact.
  • Zone Strategy:
    • Early Game: Target Gold or Diamond mutations for initial capital.
    • End Game: Top mutations like Rainbow need extreme distance and luck, so improving kick distance control is mandatory.

Survival & Risk Management

Top-tier units spawn at extreme distances, presenting a high retrieval risk:

Tsunami & Visual ID

Higher mutations often trigger more aggressive waves (e.g., Admin Wave).

  • Visual Quick-Check: If you see obvious high-tier VFX (e.g. neon smoke for Radioactive, prismatic trails for Rainbow), sprint regardless of the risk. If it's a low-tier glow and the wave is close, abandon it.
  • Stat Requirement: Impossible Waves in the Hacked Zone require a Movement Speed of 85+ for a reliable escape.

Regional Layout Strategies

As a player progresses, the base layout should evolve to maximize ROI (Return on Investment):

1. Early Zones (Rare - Epic)

  • Goal: Pure Quantity.
  • Strategy: Fill your base with any unit you can retrieve.
  • Layout: Replace non-mutated units with Gold or Diamond tiers as soon as they drop.

2. Mid-Tier Zones (Legendary - Mythic)

  • Goal: Multiplier Hunting.
  • Strategy: Mutations begin to outclass the base values of higher zones.
  • Layout: Prioritize any unit with a 4x (Plasma) multiplier or higher. An 8x (Radioactive) unit from a lower zone is often better than a standard unit from your current zone.

3. Advanced Zones (Divine - Hacked)

  • Goal: Balancing Survival and Power.
  • Strategy: Focus on "Anchor" units with high multipliers.
  • Layout: Keep your best Molten (6x) or Radioactive (8x) units in core slots. Only replace a strong Radioactive pull if you find a clearly better multiplier in-zone.

4. End-Game (OG Area)

  • Goal: The "Dragon" Meta.
  • Strategy: Exponential growth using a mix of high-base units and percentage buffs.
  • Layout: 60% Slots: your highest multipliers from the OG Area (Rainbow, Electrified, Radioactive, etc.).
  • Layout: 40% Slots: Dragon units (the % bonus multiplies the massive output of your mutated OG units).

FAQ

Q1: Can I "reroll" a unit to get a mutation later?

No. Mutations only generate at the moment of impact. While limited-time "Reroll" events occasionally occur, there is currently no permanent way to add a mutation to an existing unit.

Q2: Why did I get a "None" mutation in the OG Area?

Zones determine the loot pool and Luck floor, but mutations are still RNG-based. High luck significantly increases the chance, but does not guarantee a mutation.

Q3: Does the multiplier affect Rebirth points?

No. Multipliers only affect Cash production. Rebirth points are usually calculated based on your total net worth or highest kick distance.

Q4: Will I keep the unit if the Tsunami kills me?

No. If you die before reaching the shore, the unit is lost forever unless you spend Robux for an "Instant Revive."

Q5: Is Radioactive the same across all zones?

The multiplier (8x) is the same, but the base value is not. A Radioactive unit from the Hacked Zone is worth significantly more than one from the Rare Zone.

Q6: What graphics settings are recommended?

Set Graphics Quality to 5+ to ensure particle effects (like Radioactive smoke) are visible from a distance, allowing for faster decision-making.

Q7: How do I get Astral, Phantom, or Volcanic mutations?

Astral drops in the Eternal Zone (Update 4). Phantom requires the Phantom Event. Volcanic requires unlocking the mutation at the Volcano Shop (20 Volcanic Orbs) during Update 5 volcano cycles.

Q8: Is Virus still obtainable after Update 3?

The Weather Machine replaced the Virus Machine. Treat Virus as a legacy trait on older units; farm current meta mutations via zone luck, Weather events, Eternal/Phantom content, or the Volcano Event.
