Forge calculator
Pick ores, preview class chances and traits, plus ore-count bands and crafting tips.
What this calculator is
Pick up to four ore types, switch Weapon or Armor and World 1-2 vs World 3, then read class chances, predicted stats, mix share, traits, and weapon variants before you dump rare ores in-game.
Pair with the ores, weapons, and armors pages, or jump to ore counts & crafting tips, weapon recipes, armor recipes, and forge setups.
Forge calculator
Live class odds and trait preview. The forge still rolls in-game, so treat this as a plan, not a lock.

Select ores
How to use
Add ores on the right, watch chances and preview update in the middle and left columns.
- Choose Weapon or Armor. Use the toggle in Select ores. Mode resets the preview class so chance tables and trait scoring match that craft type.
- Pick a world band. W1 / W2 and World 3 use different weapon class tables. Switch in Forge chances before you trust a class name or variant row.
- Add up to four ore types. Click ores on the right to add one each click. You can raise or lower counts in the Selected ores slots. A fifth distinct ore type will not add until you clear a slot.
- Read chances and pick a class. Forge chances lists every class with a non-zero roll for your ore count. Click a row to lock the preview. The top row is the most likely outcome.
- Check preview, traits, and variants. The center card shows multiplier, masterwork price, and estimated damage or health. Traits need about 10%+ share to transfer. Weapon mode also fills the Variants table with DMG and DPS ranges.
- Clear or refine. Use Clear all to reset, or search and sort ores by multiplier while you tune the mix. Check rare ore pages before you dump a bag.
Examples
Common mixes players test before crafting. Use them as starting points, then adjust counts for your bag.
Late weapon DPS mix
Mode: Weapon
Mix: About 30% Magmaite + 70% Darkryte (high ore count for Colossal / heavy classes).
Why: Magmaite pushes explosion-style traits; Darkryte fills the rest of the bag for multiplier. Dial total ore count into the 40-50 band and watch Colossal / heavy class odds rise on the left.
Mid-game Great Axe check
Mode: Weapon
Mix: 20-25 total ores with a strong mid-tier stack (e.g. Rivalite / Fireite heavy).
Why: Use this band when you want Great Axe class odds without dumping endgame crystals. Click the Great Axe row in Forge chances to lock preview DPS before you craft.
Tank armor setup
Mode: Armor
Mix: About 30% Obsidian + 70% Darkryte.
Why: Obsidian leans defense / tank traits; Darkryte keeps average multiplier high. Switch to Armor mode, then compare health % and effective defense on the preview card.
Trait probe at 10%+
Mode: Weapon
Mix: Any single trait ore at ≥10% of the pile (for example 2 of 20 ores).
Why: Traits only start transferring around a 10% share. Add a small slice of a trait ore, confirm the Traits panel lights up, then raise the share if you need a stronger transfer.
Best recipes and ore counts
Ore count sets which weapon or armor classes can appear. Ore types set traits. Preview chances in the tool above, or open weapon recipes and armor recipes for class targets.

Ore counts and class odds
Too few ores lock you into light classes. Raise the count to open heavier weapons and armor.
Quick count bands
3-6 ores: mostly Daggers and Light Armor.
7-11 ores: Straight Swords, Gauntlets, and Medium Armor start appearing.
12-20 ores: Katanas, Greatswords, and better Medium Armor become common.
21-30 ores: Great Axes and Heavy Armor start showing up.
30+ ores: Colossal Swords become possible (still rare).
About 15-16 ores sits near a 60% Greatsword chance. Around 50 ores shifts the table toward Colossal. Check the band in the calculator before you spend rare ores.
Crafting tips
1. Fix the ore count first
Pick the class, find its count band, and stay there. The forge tool shows how odds move as you add or remove ores.
2. Mix high and low multipliers
You do not need a full bag of legendaries. Pair Darkryte or Magmaite with cheaper ores to cut cost while keeping the traits you want.
3. Pick ores for the build
Tank mixes lean Obsidian and Darkryte. Damage mixes use Eye Ore, Fireite, and Magmaite. Highest multiplier alone is not a plan. Read the Traits panel after you set shares.
4. Do not under-count rare ores
With 20+ ores you usually want more than a Dagger. Use enough count for a real shot at the class you need.
Common mistakes
Too many ore types
Ten ore types dilute traits. Stay at 2-4 types (the calculator caps at four distinct IDs).
Ignoring count
Fifty ores for a Greatsword you can hit near 15 wastes materials. Learn the bands and save rares for when the table needs them.
No build goal
Decide tank or damage first, then craft. Random mixes leave mismatched gear. Forge setups lists ready tank and damage mixes if you want a starting point.
Only legendary ores
Legendaries are strong and scarce. Rare and uncommon mixes still work when count and traits are planned.
FAQ
Are these forge chances guaranteed in-game?
No. The preview uses known class-chance tables and multipliers. The forge still rolls live, so plan with it, then craft.
Why can I only select four ore types?
The tool mirrors the four-slot forge mix. You can stack many of the same ore, but only four distinct types at once. Clear a slot before adding a fifth type.
When do ore traits activate?
Traits usually need about 10% of the mix to start transferring, and get stronger as that share rises. The Traits panel lists lines that currently meet the threshold for your Weapon or Armor mode.
What is the difference between W1 / W2 and World 3?
Weapon class lists and variant stats change by world band. Armor classes are shared, but always match the world toggle to where you craft.
Where do Variants numbers come from?
Only in Weapon mode. They expand the selected (or top) class into named variants with damage, DPS, and effective DPS after traits. Armor mode leaves that panel empty on purpose.
Should I use this or the inventory optimizer / forge setups?
Use this page to test a specific mix you already have. Inventory optimizer suggests crafts from a full bag; forge setups lists ready tank and damage recipes.
What's the best weapon for beginners?
Start with Katanas or Greatswords (about 10-16 ores). Once you have more resources, aim for Great Axes or Colossal Swords. See the weapons page for class targets.
Should I always use the maximum ore count?
No. Each class has a good ore-count band. Using 50 ores when 15 would work wastes materials. Check class chances in the tool for your target first.
Do I need to use only rare ores?
No. A planned mix of uncommon and rare ores often beats dumping only legendary ores. Prioritize the traits you want, not just the highest multipliers.
What's more important: ore count or ore types?
Ore count gates which classes can appear; ore types set multiplier and traits. Hit the count for your target class first, then tune types for traits.
