Anime Expeditions Equipment Guide
Standard and unit-exclusive gear in Anime Expeditions — map drop sources, passive upgrades, and when equipment rerolls are worth spending.
By Bloxron Editorial Team · Last updated
Gear pays off once your core roster stops rotating. Standard pieces carry early story; exclusive drops matter after you commit to an evolve target.
Standard gear
Anyone can equip these. Fine for early story, but they will not replace a unit's exclusive piece once you are building a main carry.
Unit-exclusive gear
Tied to specific units and usually tied to story maps. The passive here is what separates a good carry from a great one — and it does not stack with the unit's base passive, it upgrades it.
Rerolls and locks
Equipment Reroll and Equipment Lock let you push stat lines on a piece worth keeping. Stat Lock does the same for unit stats. Save these for gear you are not replacing next week.
Gear priority order
- Evolve the carry that is already holding your team together.
- Find that unit's exclusive route — story map, Spirit City raid, or Armory Forge craft.
- Fill other slots with standard gear while the carry gets priority farming.
- Only reroll once the item is good enough to stay equipped for a while.
Which map drops which exclusive gear
| Gear | Map | Unit |
|---|---|---|
| School Grounds | Cursed Student (True Love) | |
| School Grounds | Salmon Sorcerer (Grade 1) | |
| Flower Forest | Hollow (Blaze) | |
| Rose Kingdom | Flame Emperor (Reincarnate) | |
| Rose Kingdom | String Demon (Awakened) | |
| Fairy King Forest | Lady Giant (Envy) | |
| Fairy King Forest | Puppet (Telekinetic) | |
| King's Tomb | Elf Mage (Unleashed) | |
| Spirit City Raid Act 1 | Reaper (Released) | |
| Spirit City Raid Act 1 | 8th Sword (Berserk) | |
| Armory Forge (craft only) | Shadow (Divine) |
Unit-exclusive gear
These pieces only fit one unit. Most drop from story maps or Spirit City raid mastery; Hexed Blade is craft-only. The passive replaces the unit's base passive with a stronger version — not a stack on top.
| Gear | Unit | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Cursed Student | Bleed stacks summon Bat Spirits that add extra boss pressure. | |
| Salmon Sorcerer | Attacks apply Slow tiers that get stronger as the unit upgrades. | |
| Hollow (Blaze) | Burn ticks in range can convert into heavier Austere Flames damage. | |
| Flame Emperor | Burn spreads to nearby enemies that are not already burning. | |
| String Demon | Regular attacks can Cocoon enemies for stun or burst damage. | |
| Lady Giant | Summons Stone Walls on a timer for extra lane control. | |
| Puppet | Puppet Mark kills spawn a Doll with high effective HP. | |
| Elf Mage | Arcane Charges unlock line, circle, and full-map spell follow-ups. | |
| Reaper | Permanent damage and crit buffs stack as the unit hits new enemy types. | |
| 8th Sword | Demonic Presence damages enemies in half range each second; Savage Rebound cleanses stun and follows up. | |
| Shadow | At Upgrade 3, Winged Spirit circles at half range, dealing damage and applying stun. |
Standard gear anyone can use
| Gear | Notes |
|---|---|
| Basic damage and SPA — early story filler. | |
| Crit chance and crit damage for physical lanes. | |
| Crit-focused alternative with similar stat spread. | |
| SPA reduction without a passive. | |
| Flat damage bump for mid-story bridge units. | |
| Damage scales with enemies in range (caps at 15%). | |
| SPA cut plus magical damage dealt. | |
| Range and magical damage for mage lanes. | |
| Bleed DOT damage scales with stacks on the target. | |
| Range boost for back-line units. |
Who gets gear first
| Slot | Priority | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Main evolved carry | First | Exclusive gear here usually moves the most power. |
| Second damage slot | Next | Worth it once your first carry is already stable. |
| Control or support | After that | Only if the unit stays in hard content teams. |
| Story placeholders | Skip | Do not reroll gear on units you plan to replace. |
Reroll notes
- Exclusive passives replace the unit's base passive — they do not stack on top.
- Equipment Lock saves one stat line while you reroll the rest of the piece.
- Farm the correct map or craft route before burning rerolls on a piece your unit cannot equip.
- Most exclusives also craft at the Armory Forge; Hexed Blade has no story-map drop — craft it.
Reroll item sources and sprite crafting are on the Items page.
FAQ
Should I farm equipment before evolving units?
Usually no. Evolution tends to be the bigger spike, and some exclusive gear only makes full sense once the evolved form is online.
Where do Hair Bells and Hexed Blade come from?
Hair Bells and Spirit of the Moonblade drop from Spirit City Raid Act 1 mastery (and can also be crafted). Hexed Blade for Shadow is craft-only at the Armory Forge — it does not appear on a story map.
What is the point of equipment locks?
Locks protect a strong stat while you reroll the rest, which matters most on high-value pieces you expect to keep for a while.
Do all units need exclusive gear immediately?
No. Prioritize the units carrying your team first, then branch into support or secondary slots after the main lane is stable.
