Beginner Guide
First session: mountain → peel station → sell, spend Cash on speed and peelers, bank Gems after a clear.

First session
Prisoner clear for one Key: learn deposit, run full mountain trips, climb the peeler ladder with Cash (resets each run), upgrade machines before leaning on them, then bank Gems after escape.
Full tool and machine spend order is on upgrades. Class rolls are on classes. Key and Vault steps are on How to Escape. Redeem status is on codes.
Opening loop
From deposit check to lobby Gem banking after escape.
- You are peeling for the Key. You play as a prisoner clearing the potato mountain. Peel until the Key potato shows up, unlock the Vault, and escape. Cash from peels buys better gear so the next loop goes faster.
- Learn deposit before you grind. Find the peeling-station basket and put potatoes in it before you settle into a click rhythm. Peeling with nowhere to dump them wastes the first few minutes.
- Run full trips, then peel. Pick up at the pile, fill the basket, walk to the station, peel, then sell. Half-empty trips waste time. Stand close to the pile; peeling from far away is slower.
- Spend Cash on speed and scoop. Cash resets when a run ends. Buy peeler speed, shovel scoop size, and movement first. Shovel scoops can climb from about 5 to 7 potatoes after upgrades. Follow the game's suggested buy unless your basket is clearly too small.
- Climb the peeler ladder. Manual peelers unlock in order. You can only buy the next tool after the previous one. Hand Peeler and Auto Peeler sit at the end and are the only ones with their own upgrade trees. Put Cash into those trees when they unlock.
- Unlock machines mid-run, then upgrade them. Around 2,500 peels a stronger peeler or hands-free style tool unlocks. Fresh machines and the potato vacuum feel worse than a good shovel or knife until you upgrade them. Save Cash for the upgrade tree, not just the unlock. Big pile counts like 10,000 or 25,000 are not a fixed HUD total.
- Bank Gems between runs. Escape sends you back to the lobby with no cutscene. Your clear time posts on the board. Gems stay on your account; spend them on hub upgrades and class rolls (40 Gems each). Robux auto-peel is optional. You can clear without it.
Session checklist
Use this before you leave your first long session.
- Joined the official Roblox place (116701845804918)
- Put potatoes in the peel-station basket before grinding
- Finished at least three full pickup → peel → sell cycles
- Bought a peeler step plus pickup/shovel or movement speed
- Grew basket size when trips took longer than peeling
- Know Cash resets each run and Gems stay for hub classes and upgrades
- Know where the Vault is before hunting the Key
Peeler unlock order
Buy the next tool only after its predecessor unlocks. Hand and Auto peelers are the ones with upgrade trees.
- Knife. Early manual peeler. First big speed jump off the default tool.
- Swiss Knife. Next unlock after Knife. Keep climbing instead of stacking weak side buys.
- Peeler. Mid manual tier. Still locked behind the previous tool.
- Triple Peeler. Strong manual peel before Hand and Auto machines.
- Hand Peeler. Late peeler with a crank upgrade tree. Mechanic helps here.
- Auto Peeler. End-of-run machine with its own upgrade tree. Buy it only if you can fund upgrades. Mechanic doubles its speed.
Mechanic class halves Hand Peeler cranks and doubles Auto Peeler speed. Details on classes.
What to buy first
Peel speed and scoop first. Upgrade machines before switching onto them. Cash is per-run; Gems are permanent.
- Peeler ladder in unlock order (Knife → … → Auto). Peel speed limits how fast you clear.
- Shovel and pickup upgrades (scoops about 5 → 7)
- Basket size when full trips beat half-empty walks (about 50 → 125 → 450)
- Walk speed if travel still hurts after scoop and capacity
- Hand Peeler, Auto Peeler, and vacuum upgrade trees. Do not leave a machine at base if you switch onto it.
- Hub Gems after a clear: permanent upgrades and class rolls
- Skip sale-value and rare-color potato chasing on a time run
- Cosmetics and Robux auto-peel last
Peel technique tips
Habits that help full clears stay on pace.
- Park the cursor in one good peel spot instead of re-aiming every potato.
- Gather until full, then stand and process in one stint.
- Upgrade a peeling machine or vacuum before making it your main loop. A base vacuum around $30 feels weak until upgraded.
- Where you dig on the pile barely matters for the Key. How much you clear does.
- Gold, rainbow, and diamond-looking potatoes pay more but slow a time run. Treat them as extra Cash, not required loot.
Common mistakes
Easy ways to waste the first hour.
- Treating Cash like permanent money. It resets; Gems do not.
- Peeling before you know the deposit basket
- Walking half-empty baskets
- Skipping peeler unlock order. Each tool needs the one before it.
- Buying Auto Peeler or vacuum with no upgrade budget
- Spamming class rolls before finishing a run for Gems
- Digging holes to find the Key. Clear the pile by peeling.
- Thinking Robux auto-peel is required for a normal clear
- Sitting on fake code lists. No promos are live yet.
Beginner FAQ
What is the main goal?
Peel the mountain until you find the Key potato, unlock the Vault, escape, and beat your clear time. Escape drops you straight back in the lobby with a posted time.
What is the difference between Cash and Gems?
Cash comes from peeling and selling in a run. It buys peelers and run upgrades, then resets. Gems stay after you clear and buy hub upgrades plus 40-Gem class rolls.
What should I buy first?
Peeler progress and scoop or pickup, then storage when walking is the bottleneck. Upgrade machines before you lean on them. See the buy order and peeler ladder on this page.
Is the pile really 10,000 or 25,000 potatoes?
Those numbers are not a fixed HUD total. Use the ~2,500-peel tool unlock as a mid-run milestone, not a Key trigger.
Which peelers have upgrade trees?
Only Hand Peeler and Auto Peeler. Earlier tools unlock in order without those trees.
Do I need Robux or codes?
No. Robux auto-peel is optional. Codes are not live yet. See the Codes page.
When should I roll classes?
After one or two clears so you have Gems. Keep and reroll tips are on the Classes page.
