Escape goal

Clear the mountain for one late Key, unlock the Vault, and return to the lobby with a posted clear time. No cutscene. Queue again and beat your board.

Build peel speed on the beginner guide. Use classes for passive dig, peel, or sell bonuses.

How to escape

From stable loop to Vault exit.

  1. Stabilize the peel loop first. Confirm deposit into the peel station, then dig, peel, and sell with upgraded scoop and peeler speed. You want enough Cash flow that a dry stretch does not kill the run before the Key shows.
  2. Clear the mountain by peeling. Exactly one Key potato hides in the pile. Digging deeper holes does not replace peeling. Which face of the mountain you dig from barely matters. How much you clear does.
  3. Expect a late Key. The Key usually shows when the pile is nearly gone. An empty first half is normal. It looks like a key-shaped model and picks up instantly. Also check what you scooped or vacuumed if you think you missed it.
  4. Unlock the Vault and escape. Go to the Vault only when you hold the Key. There is no ending cutscene. You return to the lobby and your clear time posts next to other players for the next attempt.

Key potato facts

What clears show so far, versus common guesses.

  • One Key per run. No fixed spawn spot is known.
  • It shows up by clearing and peeling the mountain, not by digging holes alone.
  • Late-pile timing is normal.
  • Dig position on the pile is not a known spawn rule.
  • The Key does not drop at exactly 2,500 peels, and early random drops are not a known rule.
  • If the pile is almost gone and you have no Key, check what you already scooped or vacuumed.

Co-op and time saves

Split gather/peel, separate wallets, shared machines.

  • Biggest time save: play with others when you can. Group clears often land around 33 to 50 minutes. Solo often runs over an hour.
  • Split roles. One gathers while another peels so both sides stay busy.
  • Wallets are separate. Decide who buys which shared machine. There is no shared Cash pool.
  • Machines can be used together. Pile onto one upgraded peeler instead of each buying a weak copy.
  • Reinvest right away in peeler speed, shovel scoop, and capacity. Skip sale-value upgrades and rare-color potato chasing on a time run.

Escape FAQ

Where does the Key potato spawn?

No fixed spot is known. Peel and clear the mountain. Expect it late when little of the pile remains. Dig face does not seem to matter.

Does the 2,500-peel unlock give the Key?

No. About 2,500 peels unlocks a stronger peeler tool. The Key is a separate find near the end of the pile.

Can I escape solo?

Yes, but expect a longer clear. Groups that split gather and peel, and share one upgraded machine, usually finish faster.

What happens when I escape?

No cutscene. You return to the lobby and your clear time is shown so you can queue again and beat it.

What does the on-screen peel number mean?

It shows peel rate, like potatoes per second. It is not a fail timer. Slow peeling does not end the round by itself.
