Prehistoric Farm fishing: cast from shore or boat while eggs incubate

Shore and boat fishing

Cast while eggs incubate, sell catches for coins, keep fish for carnivores, and stock Puffer for the flyer quest.

Rod and bait list

Basic rod costs 150 coins. Bait packs cost 5 coins for 5 casts; carry up to 15.

Cast loop

Buy rod and bait, cast, pick a target, sell or keep.

  1. Buy the basic rod for 150 coins at the Home Island stall (Tylo's). Early saves often have only one rod.
  2. Buy bait packs for 5 coins per 5 casts and fill up to 15 carry.
  3. Cast from shore or boat, then pick among the fish targets that appear. Prefer stronger targets over weak bites.
  4. Use Sell My Fish for coins, or keep fish as carnivore feed.
  5. Fish while eggs incubate. Shore casting sits close to the ranch and DNA Lab.

Catch types list

Puffer for Clara. Common and mid catches sell or feed carnivores.

Sell or feed

Sell common and mid catches early to fund Bronze shovel, Banks Dory, and feed packs. Keep fish when Bramble's Meat is low and a ranch carnivore needs a meal. Bank 20 Puffer for Clara's Sky Spires quest before you sell every Puffer. Sell My Fish turns surplus into shovel and boat coins during incubator waits. Rare sea catches can be eggs or strong sell value, so check inventory before dumping a full haul.

Cretaceous Seas eggs

Six Index slots from fishing and sea eggs. Dig sites never fill them. Species names show in the Index as you collect them. Sunken Grotto Steals and open-sea activity feed the same track.

Period Index structure is also listed on fossils.

Diving and Sunken Grotto

Diving is for rare catches in open water. Sunken Grotto is a separate sneak run: sail out, find the grotto, sneak in, then Steal sea reptile eggs when the prompt appears. No boat tier is required; faster boats or aquatic mounts just get you there sooner. Grotto eggs fill Cretaceous Seas Index slots and do not come from digs or Dr. Ivy. Follow in-game markers and Steal prompts for the route.

Mosasaurus fights

Mosasaurus fights can start with a cutscene at sea or on the way back to port. Fight as a team with spears: head hits deal about 60 damage, body hits about 30. Health sits near 7,500 HP, and mid-fight you may see about 3,500 remaining. Other players can join on mounts. Rewards are coins and XP; egg drops are uncommon.

FAQ

When should I fish?

Fish while eggs incubate, when you need early coins, or when you are stocking 20 Puffer fish for the Sky Spires flyer quest.

What is the bait limit?

Bait packs cost 5 coins for 5 casts. You can carry up to 15 bait. Refill at Tylo's on Home Island before long sessions or the flyer quest.

Do Cretaceous Seas creatures come from dig sites?

No. Those six Index slots come from fishing and sea eggs. See Cretaceous Seas eggs above.

Why do I need Puffer fish?

Clara's Sky Spires quest needs 20. Full route is on the dinosaurs flyer section.

How does the Mosasaurus fight work?

Grab a spear, group up, and hit the head (about 60 damage vs about 30 on the body). Health sits near 7,500. Rewards are mostly coins and XP.

What is Sunken Grotto?

A sneak run for sea reptile eggs. Sail out, steal nest eggs when the prompt appears, and follow in-game markers. Steps are in Diving and Sunken Grotto above.

Flyer quest steps live on dinosaurs → flyer.
