Shovel tier opens period digs. Boat tier reaches farther islands. Digby's sells tools and Lucky Clover. Early coins come from ranch /min, dig cash and night glowing sites, selling Common and Rare extras, Sell My Fish during incubator waits, and codes after you join Project Mirvy.
Two gates
Shovel tier sets which period dig sites you can mine. A fast boat cannot dig Jurassic without Iron. Boat tier gets you to those islands faster: Dinghy works early, Banks Dory (4,000) cuts travel time, and a grown aquatic dinosaur can replace a boat in the water but never replaces a shovel gate. Higher Digby's shovels keep earlier dig access. Boats are coin-only with no level gate; read Skiff and Lobster prices at the dock.

Wooden is free. Bronze is 2,500 for Devonian. Silver is about 12,000 for Triassic and the flyer quest. Iron is about 50,000 for Jurassic. Titanium opens Cretaceous. Read Digby's row for coin and material costs.

Luck sources list
Luck comes from Digby's Lucky Clover, VIP, weather storms, and Lucky Totem. Multipliers do not stack into a guaranteed fossil every dig.

Material shovel offers
Later Digby's rows can ask for coins plus dig materials, not coins alone. Some mid-tier offers sit near 15,000 coins plus Red Jasper and Aquamine mined on period islands. If the buy button stays locked with enough coins, you are missing materials. That material offer is not the Silver shovel; Silver stays about 12,000 for Triassic and the flyer quest.
Early spend order list
Codes and feed first, then Bronze, boat or aquatic mount, then Silver. Budget Lucky Clover (800) and incubator slot 3 (30,000) when digs and hatch queues need them.

Why do I need both a shovel and a boat?
Shovel tier sets which period dig sites you can mine. Boat tier gets you to those islands. A grown aquatic dinosaur can replace a boat in the water. It does not replace shovel gates.
What does Lucky Clover do?
Digby's Lucky Clover costs 800 coins and grants 2x Luck for 10 minutes. VIP, Rainstorm, Monster Storm, and Lucky Totem also raise dig luck. None of them guarantee a fossil every swing.
Why does Digby's say I need a better shovel?
You are on a period island above your shovel tier. Buy the next Digby's shovel (and any listed materials) first.
Should I buy Skiff before Silver?
No. Silver unlocks Triassic digs and the flyer quest. Skiff and Lobster can wait until dig progression is moving.
Where do I find Digby's and the boat shop?
Digby's Shovels is on Home Island. Boats sit at the home dock. Use the waterfall to find port again.
