How upgrades work

Cash from sold food buys five colony boards plus per-doorway hole levels. Each buy costs more than the last. Egg luck and Egg rolls come first. Food value, Colony expansion, hole levels, and Ant speed follow.

Related: ants, items.

Colony upgrade table

Six Cash spends sit on this page. Egg luck raises the odds of better Ant Queen hatches. Egg rolls add more free rolls each cycle and stack toward multi-roll. Food value raises what each food box sells for. Colony expansion adds floors and doorway slots. Ant speed shortens produce and delivery time. Ant hole level upgrades the individual doorway holding a placed ant, and Legendary holes cost far more than Common ones. Buy the row that matches the failed loop: weak hatches, full doors, low sell value, or slow routes.

Spend priority

Stable sells, Egg luck, Egg rolls, Food value, then doors, hole levels, and Ant speed.

  1. Lock a sell loop first. Place at least one ant and sell food before dumping Cash into boards. Empty Cash blocks ant buys.
  2. Stack Egg luck early. Buy Egg luck while it is cheap. Better ants raise every future food payout.
  3. Stack Egg rolls early. More rolls mean more chances at keepers. Push toward multi-roll while Egg rolls stay cheap.
  4. Raise Food value. Once hatch quality is improving, buy Food value so each box pays more at the Sell merchant.
  5. Expand doors, then hole levels and Ant speed. Buy Colony expansion when you need another keeper placed. Level holes on keepers. Buy Ant speed when travel time blocks food delivery.

FAQ

What should I upgrade first?

Egg luck and Egg rolls. They are the cheapest early boards and improve the ants that set your income.

Why do upgrade prices keep rising?

Each level costs more than the last. Keep selling food so you can afford both the next level and the next ant buy.

What is an ant hole level?

Each doorway can be leveled on its own. Higher hole levels raise that ant's output. Legendary holes cost far more than Common ones.

When do I buy Colony expansion?

When every door holds a keeper you want to keep. Empty doors do nothing; full doors with weak ants still need better rolls.

Do Items shop potions replace upgrades?

No. Colony boards and hole levels come first. Potions and jellies come after, on strong keepers.
