Demon unlock is reputation-gated and night-gated. Reach -40, find Muzan after dark, finish Spider Lilies plus Dr. Higoshima, drink Muzan's Blood, then handle sunlight and roll a Blood Demon Art (Evil Arts in-game).
Reputation to -40 table
Civilians drop about -1 reputation each, so roughly forty kills reach -40. Slayers drop about -9 each, so roughly five kills also hit the gate. Overshoot to around -45 if you want a buffer before talking to Muzan at night.

Muzan night spawn list
Muzan appears at night only in three search areas: Mistfall Harbor around Ginzo's ramps, Hidden Mist Village on the lowest wooden fog paths, and Iceveil Valley near the Clothing Shop and Tengai boss snow. He walks, so expand beyond the first plaza.

Muzan quest steps
Use the Biwa Bell into the lair, gather nine Spider Lilies, deliver Dr. Higoshima, then drink the blood and confirm the Demon title on your HUD.
Reach -40 reputation
Kill Slayers near Butterfly Estate or Mistfall Harbor for faster drops (about -9 each). Civilians are slower at about -1. Overshooting to about -45 is a safe buffer.
Find Muzan at night
He only appears after dark and rotates between Mistfall Harbor, Hidden Mist Village, and Iceveil Valley. These are search areas, not fixed spawn pins — walk the nearby paths. Waiting out the day on one server can beat endless hops.
Take the Biwa Bell and start the quest
Talk to Muzan with enough negative reputation. He gives the Biwa Bell, which teleports you into Muzan's Lair. Speak again in the lair to track Spider Lilies 0/9 and Deliver Dr. Higoshima 0/1.
Collect nine Spider Lilies
They glow at night near water and areas like Bamboo Grove. Walk into one to pick it up. Stay in a patch that already spawned lilies; they respawn in the same zones faster than a full map search.
Deliver Dr. Higoshima
Follow the red quest marker at night (current routes often point through Hidden Mist Village). Capture him, then carry him to the delivery point while Mizunoto slayers spawn. Keep moving; clearing every enemy slows you down and dying can wipe quest progress. Double Jump and Wall Climb help.
Drink Muzan's Blood
Finishing both objectives grants Muzan's Blood. Use it to transform. Confirm in Inventory → Archives → Titles that Demon is unlocked (+10 Max Health, 1.01x Evil Art Damage Factor, +5 Max Health passive).
Sun protection list
Daylight burns demons without sun immunity. Fastest early fix: talk to MoldySugar (pink-haired delivery NPC in the beginner village), deliver the package to Elara at Mistfall Harbor, and equip the Black Amigasa. Clothing shops in the starter village and Iceveil Valley can also stock sun-protection headgear — check the effect tag before buying. A sun-immune clan such as Kamado removes the hat requirement entirely.
Get the Black Amigasa early
Daylight burns demons without sun immunity. Speak to MoldySugar (pink-haired delivery NPC icon in the beginner village), deliver the package to Elara at Mistfall Harbor, and equip the Black Amigasa. Clothing shops in the starter village and Iceveil Valley can also stock sun-protection headgear — check effects before buying. Clans like Kamado grant sun immunity and remove the need for a hat.

Blood Demon Arts unlock notes
Seven Blood Demon Arts (Evil Arts in-game). Shockwave rolls at Muzan or from its orb. Ice, Dream, Tamari, Arrow, and Obi drop from chests or bosses or spin at Muzan. Explosive Blood (Pyrokinesis) still lacks published Z/X/C/V/B names. Spins cost about 3 each.
- Use the Biwa Bell to return to Muzan's Lair and roll a Blood Demon Art (also called Evil Arts in-game).
- Shockwave can roll at Muzan or unlock from a Shockwave orb that starts Core Training.
- Ice, Dream, Tamari, Arrow, and Obi can drop from chests or bosses, or spin at Muzan — either route is enough.
- Explosive Blood (also called Pyrokinesis) exists, but its Z/X/C/V/B names and unlock details are not listed yet.
- Rolls cost about 3 spins each, payable with Spins or Ore.
- Core Training example: barbell squats, Boulder Push, Boulder Split, kill Mizunoto enemies. Dying mid-quest can reset progress.
- Demon Progress fills with souls from defeated human NPCs (Weak, Strong, Brave). Killing other demons gives nothing.
- Global skill cooldowns and the shared counter timer apply to every art (same rules as on the Breathing combat notes).

Five Demon weapon notes while Core Training finishes. Firstlight War Fans stay the broad melee / range / AoE package; Firstlight Bladed Wagasa is the other endgame pick with mobility, crowd clear, and Sun Immunity. Nightfall Sickles pair with Blood Manipulation; Nightfall Claws are the fast-pressure option; Nightfall Scythe has late AoE but is slow enough to get blocked in PvP.
- Firstlight War Fans: best all-round Demon weapon — melee, range, and AoE. Counter only resets Z and grants its buff after a successful activation; shared counter cooldown rewards timing.
- Firstlight Bladed Wagasa: the other broad Demon endgame pick — strong stats, mobility, crowd clear, and Sun Immunity.
- Nightfall Sickles: clearest pairing with Blood Manipulation for mobility and ranged/AoE pressure.
