Storage Hunters: Open World Beginner Guide
First session: bid zone, calculator caps, shop sells, cargo upgrades, and why fake codes do not work yet.
Beginner Guide
By Bloxron Editorial Team · Last updated
Storage Hunters: Open World starts in Junk Yard: bid on sealed lockers, haul what you win, and sell at your shop. Your first sessions should teach preview math and cargo limits before you chase Farmyard machinery or island yards.
Win a few Junk Yard lockers without overbidding, sell at the counter so you see mutation stacking, and push net worth toward Back Alley (~$750) before the Power Plant ferry.
First session steps
Learn the bid zone
Stand inside the auction bid zone, watch the short locker preview, and raise with E. Previews show base values only — mutations apply later at the shop counter.
Cap bids in the calculator
Match the preview to an item, toggle expected mutations, and stop when net profit hits zero. Overbidding on Junk Yard teaches bad habits that get expensive in Farmyard.
Load before you leave
Win the haul, match safe keys if needed, and load the Starter Truck (120 wt) before the window closes. Abandoned cargo is free money for nobody.
Sell at the counter, not the preview
Grade and list stock at your shop. Mutation multipliers add together (Silver 2× + Gold 4× = 6×), they do not multiply. Use the Mutations page when stacks look wrong.
Climb yards by cargo, not just reputation
Back Alley opens around $750 net worth. Power Plant ferry around $7,500. Upgrade Flatbed or Cargo Van before Farmyard machinery routinely exceeds your weight cap.
Ignore fake codes
As of mid-September 2026 there is still no in-game redeem box. Working code lists elsewhere are fake — check the codes page for status only.
Common beginner mistakes
- Trusting preview totals as final sell value
- Max-bidding before checking calculator profit after the bid
- Entering Farmyard on the Starter Truck when machinery exceeds 120 wt
- Spending early cash on flashy exclusives instead of cargo upgrades
- Chasing fake redeem codes while there is no in-game code UI
Beginner FAQ
What should I do first in Storage Hunters?
Practice Junk Yard bids with calculator caps, sell a few hauls at the shop, then push net worth toward Back Alley (~$750).
Why do mutation values not show in previews?
Previews show base item value only. Mutations stack additively at the shop counter when you grade and list.
When do I upgrade my truck?
Before Farmyard machinery regularly exceeds your cargo weight. Flatbed or Cargo Van (~160–200 wt) comes before Heavy Lifter for Shipyard.
How do I unlock Power Plant?
Around $7,500 net worth you can take the ferry to the Power Plant island. Confirm the live unlock UI if the number shifted.
Are there working promo codes?
Not yet. There is no redeem box in-game as of mid-September 2026. Treat external working lists as fake.
